Events and activities for the Quarter
VAINc Annual Day
On the occasion of VAINC‘s Annual Day VACS prepared and published a Monograph “ Job Hunting For Vision Impaired” and supplied the inaugural copies to Lexington. This book was released also to Vision Aid’s Indian Partners in India.
Rotary Installation Day
Rotary Club Waltair invited all VACS staff for their 2018 Installation Dinner 14th July at Hotel Vivana Visakhapatnam. VACS reciprocated by installing and running an exhibition/demo of vision-aiding at the venue. The show was appreciated by the Rotarians.
Partners Training Program
Sep 23 to 29 we conducted the major event “Partners Training Program” an Expenses-paid Residential program for 7 of our partner representatives – from Agra, Berhampur, Hyderabad and Madurai. The program content was designed, documented, delivered and event managed by VACS Vizag team. VAInc finance the event who also arranged valuable and novel “ON LINE Guest lectures” on all days of the program.
Important Donations Received
- Vizag based Oil major Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited delivered a CSR donation in kind - Computers, Printers and lab furniture as CSR initiative. Shri. A. S. V. Ramanan, Executive Director; Mr. N. Raja Rao, GM - I/C HR; V. Ratnan Raju, CGM Operations; Mr. U. S. Sarma, Chief Manager - PR; Mr. Kali, Manager; visited Vision Aid and handed over the equipment to us at a colourful function.
- The Angel Donor scheme to find funds to subsidise Assistive Devices to un-affording got a good response. During the quarter, more than Rs. 50,000/- was pledged and paid by Angel Donors ( K. Gopal of Chennai, V. V. S. Kashyap of Chennai, Mr. Sishir of Bangalore, Mr. Kalyanasundaram of Mumbai, Mr. K. S. P. Rao of Hyderabad ). Enabled by this generosity, We are supplying our Vision Aid Torch to select blind students at Hyderabad as recommended by Netra College Management.
- VACS secured a CSR donation of Rs.10, 000/- from Dredging Corporation of India, Visakhapatnam
- Rama Devi’s colleague Mrs. Lakshmi Chowdary donated Rs.10, 000/-
- VACS conducted at Netravisyalaya, Shamshabad, Hyderabad
- ICA Course for the 2018 new entrants Class 11 and Python Introduction to select students of graduate classes.
- VACS Computer Centre Vizag received certificate of Registration from AP DW Dept.
- This is an essential first step towards getting our training courses certified.
- The leading Telugu Daily of India, “Eenadu” published a laudatory photo feature on Vision Aid’s innovation - The Blind Man’s Torch.
Arvind Project Madurai
On instructions from VAInc, we took up facilitation tasks for VAInc’s Arvind Madurai Project in liaising with the consultant and training of their computer teachers. We received two reps of this project and inducted them to ICA, ACA and O&M as a part of our 2018 Partners Training Program.
Other Important Visitors
- Apart from HPCL dignitaries mentioned above, Mr. G. Gandhi, DGM - CSR of RINL visited us
- Rotary District Governor - RI District 3020, Rtn. G. Viswanath visited VACS Centre and interacted with staff
and students on 07-09-2018.

In this quarter, despite loss of man days due to Staff vacations, Deputations and Pre-occupation with Partnership Program Event, we maintained our normal training activity as can be seen here :
